I was clearing up some green waste in order that I can take inert materials to teh landfill and pay $15 a ton instead of $48! When I moved som edead cactus I was greeted with these multicolored eggs. I’m assuming they belong to some quail, we frequenlty have them passing through.

Quail Eggs along rear wall

They’re been there for a few days now so must have escaped the attention of our resident snake!

That is a huge clutch of eggs! Baby quail hatch and leave the nest so fast you hardly knew they were there unless you find their eggs. I love the stories about the wildlife and hope to see more. Thanks for sharing.

I’ll have to have a look later tonight and see if they’re there. I haven’t seen the mother around since discovering the eggs.
